If you have both the original jackets and the Diazo copies it is always best to scan from the master jackets rather than the diazo copies. This is advisable for two reasons, firstly the diazo copy is and 2nd generation copy of the original film and it is also the film most likely used on a daily basis and may therefore be damaged. It is also more likely the master jackets if unused will most likely be complete whereas the Diazo copies may have fiche missing?
It is key to understand that when a company scans your film they are scanning the images based on their original size and aspect ratio, for example if the original image was A2 then it’s key that the image is also scanned at that size. In not doing so it could cause issues when viewing or printing at full size.
Essentially we can scan any paper items including books, notebooks, diaries, magazines and newspapers.
Often abbreviated OCR, optical character recognition involves the recognition and capturing of text from electronic images. Depending upon your requirements we can advise on this service and how it can benefit your organisation.
At the conclusion of your scanning project SunRise will either return the items to your offices. If the physical items are no longer required we can have the items securely destroyed.
Yes. We can scan delicate papers and documents utilising a flatbed scanner which will help protect the document.
During the scanning process we can index your documents using one or multiple fields of information. For example we can capture a contract number, company name, dates etc.
This is not a problem, if you require a document or microfilm back we can either deliver the physical item back to your office or we can scan and deliver it electronically.
Interpolation is used by some scanner manufacturers and is the manipulation of an image in order to increase the scanned dpi to a higher dpi by using software to guess where the additional pixels may need to go. SunRise however scan at True Optical Resolution which is the ability to have one pixel on the scanners camera for each pixel on your source image. This is attained by optically adjusting the focal length of the Lens and Camera to capture at true image resolution, not digitally scaling/interpolating the image to achieve the desired resolution. Scaling an image can create artefacts or image distortions that are not desirable, and can be very detrimental to image quality while also affecting the OCR ability.
